    Golden Staph

    December 28th, 2011

The town was out to see what will likely be Golden Staph’s last ever show, with members returning from the east coast and eastern Europe to celebrate Christmas with loved ones. Laurie temporarily fixed the recording problem by figuring he could record in stereo, which suited the band’s grimy DIY sound just fine. They delivered a powerfully kickass set to a sweltering, happy room. Thanks Golden Staph for an excellent finish to 2011 Real to Reel!

    Cow Parade Cow

    December 23rd, 2011

The changeover between bands was a quick one as 3/5s of Runner played in Cow Parade Cow. Easy! Although there were a few technical difficulties in the recording booth, the crowd didn’t seem to mind hearing multiple versions of their summary tracks – the perfect party foil to the Christmas carolling that was going on in Forrest Place. Also the band least likely to compel small children to wander in with fingers in ears.
